![]() THE KIDS ON THE BLOCK
McNairy County Schools participated in Red Ribbon Week for Drug and Alcohol Prevention. Two of the McNairy County schools social workers, Melissa Williams and Susan Wood, presented, The Kids on the Block Program on Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drug prevention skit "Starting Over". The skit featured The Kids on the Block puppets, Eric Van Arc and Joanne Spinoza.
The Kids on the Block's style of puppetry is loosely based on the Japanese theatre form called Bunraku. In tradition of Bunraku, you see the puppeteer as a shadow or silhouette behind the puppets. This style of puppetry is effective in creating an atmosphere where children feel comfortable asking the puppets questions about the topic. (The Kids on the Block, Inc.)
AES sends a big thank you to Shelva Moore for all she does for Coordinated School Health in McNairy County!!
