Desk Top Virtualization Software Requirements
The DVS must provide the following functionality:
Desktop Virtualization - The software must allow a single computer to support multiple users at the same time (a cluster) each user working independently using its own monitor, keyboard, and mouse, with a familiar Windows computing experience.
- Each seat (user) must have its own installation of a Windows operating system (not shared with other users).
- Each seat (user) in this multi seat system (cluster) must have a unique IP address.
- Each seat (user) in this multi seat system (cluster) must have a unique MAC addrress.
- Each seat (user) in this multi seat system (cluster) must have its own installation of applications (non shared).
- Each seat (user) in this multi seat system (cluster) should have access to a virtual CD.
- Each seat in this multi seat system (cluster) should have access to a library of Linux applications and have the ability to run these applications from the windows desktop without the requirement to reboot the system.
System Management - The software must have an enterprise management componenet that allows secure and remote access to all of the systmes and virtual systems running the desktop virtualization software. This enterprise management component should allow for:
- Secure web based access from anywhere on the network.
- Remote hardware agnostic cloning of images to all of the systems and virtual systems running the desktop virtualization software.
- Remote group locking of images toa ll of the systems and virtual systems running the desktop virtualization software.
- Remote group application of images to all of the systems and virtual systems running the desktop virtualization software.
- Ability to create, store, and share a library of Virtual CDs.
- Remote Inventory Management reporting (both Software and Hardware).
- A sheduling function that allows for the following: locking, unlocking, starting, stopping, application of images, and resetting of users systems. The schedule function should allow for these functions to be scheduled for a single seat, a group of seats, or all of the seats, in running the software for the district.
- The software should include a classroom management tool to allow theachers and technician's to manage multiple groups of students, systems, or virtual systems.
- Provide a portal to allow all of the systems and virtual systems running the desktop virtualization software to have access to Linux applications that can be run in their windows environment.
- Local connection and access to an admin console from within the virtualized desktop windows environment.
- We are looking at possibly 240 plus seats.
