Welcome to Selmer Elementary School Web Site.

At Selmer Elementary School, the staff, parents, and community stake- holders are united in a cooperative effort to equip each student with the knowledge and skills essential in becoming "A Lifelong Learner."
Our School's mission and beliefs are reflected in daily teaching and learning activities. We have been a member of the Southern Association of Colleges and School since 1981. Commitment to excellence is evident by staff who are committed to providing daily opportunities for academic success, as well as opportunities to promote social and personal growth.
A further commitment to excellence is noted in our varied after-school programs, which address remediation, music, computer literacy and application, and after-school childcare. An active Parent - Teacher Organization strongly supports the instructional program through parent involvement and provision of additional resources to meet instructional needs.
Selmer Elementary School was constructed in 1955. Eighteen new classrooms have been added to accommodate a lower teacher-pupil ratio. Two networked computer labs and a computer station, along with, a minimum of two networked computers in each classroom, reveal the emphasis our school places on technology on student learning.

This school year promises to keep students and staff busy-

· A new curriculum guide for each grade level is being implemented in all classrooms and is available for parents to review on the State Department of Education Website.

· All grade levels plan and participate in a musical program, under the direction of Mrs. Pam Stackhouse.

· Ms. Renee works closely with students and staff to implement the six pillars of character.

· Our After-School Program has been funded and is open to SES students.

Our parents and community stakeholders are encouraged to visit SES and participate in our school programs.
