Parent Involvement Meeting

Many family members were in attendance at the first Parent Involvement meeting which was held on October 3. Mrs. Kay Donaldson gave some valuable information about Imagination Library and the importance of reading to children at an early age.  She told us that statistics say if a child has books in the home and is read to in these formative years, he/she will enter kindergarten with a listening vocabulary of 20,000 words. In comparison children who have not had this experience will have a listening vocabulary of only about 3,000 words.

Mrs. Rosalind Massey introduced the Pre-K portion of the McNairy.org website to the family members.  This site within the McNairy. org site  is a useful tool to keep parents and care givers abreast of all the exciting activities taking place in Pre-K.  It also provides much information and support in making this year the best possible for our children.
